Trust

Trust is the backbone of all relationships. When there is no trust there is no love. We often hear about relationships deteriorating because of “trust issues”. Many of today’s societal issues are directly related to a breach in trust. Sadly, with distrust there is no opportunity for reconciliation.

The scripture reminds us repeatedly to trust and believe in the promises of God. Proverbs chapter 3 verse 5 reminds us that we are to wholeheartedly place our trust in the Lord. There is no room for cynicism or distrust or paranoia. Our Lord is the only one who is completely trustworthy. Our closest friends and family members may disappoint us and break the trust we have placed in them.

However, as children of God we have a trusted friend and confidant in our heavenly father. The truth is that He will never disappoint us. He will never break our trust. And He will never fail us. However, this trusting relationship requires us to make a commitment to not lean on our own understanding. It is only when we wholly trust Him as our savior do we find peace with Him. It is through the death of Jesus Christ that we were reconciled to God and experienced grace and forgiveness of our distrust and sin.

Let us continue to trust God just as David did and join him is saying “Praise be to the LORD, for he has heard my cry for mercy. 7The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him (NIV Psalm 28:6-7).

AMEN
